"Begegnung in der Stiftung Waldheim"
Langwedel 2009
von Ludovica Cicci aus Italien
This summer I spent 3 weeks in a work-camp in Germany, and I enjoyed it so much that I’d like to return there!
Fist I was a little bit scared because it was a new experience and I’m only 16. I didn’t know what to expect and I thought we should sleep on the floor in our sleeping-bags in rooms with not enough space for our bags!
Instead we stayed in a very big and well-organized residence for handicap people situated in Langwedel, near Achim. Living in the school, furnished of everything we needed: a big kitchen with washing machine and dish-washer, a gym, the living-room, bathrooms with shower and comfortable classes were we slept.
We spent the first two days knowing each others and our "very different" names!
We worked about 5 hours per day, doing different kind of thing, like painting bunches, building a house of wood or cleaning the garden. Every day two of us were the kitchen-team, maybe the most difficult work to do! They had to go shopping for the whole day and the next-day breakfast, clean the BIG house and preparing lunch and dinner. We chose together who was in the team on each day, but the problem was that no-one wanted to cook on Monday!
During the camp we fixed together very well, already from the 5Th day we were all friends! And the only three boy had already a girlfriend from the start of the third week!
It was a marvellous experience that gave me the opportunity to stay with handicap people and do something useful for them. I met fantastic guys from all over the world; I knew something about different countries, with their different costumes, languages and food.
I recommend this camp to everyone who wants to make an experience
that would enrich your life!!!
