MTV-Projekte in Kenia: KVDA

2012 MTV PROGRAM SCHEDULE

 

MINIMUM PERIOD OF STAY: 3 MONTHS

Participation fees for MTV program:
The participation fee is Euros 600 for 3 months which means 200 Euros per month.

What does the Euro 200 participation fee entail?
The Euro 200.00 participation fee paid to KVDA will cater for the volunteer’s overall placement at the project including return Airport transfers, administrative costs, project/community support, monitoring/evaluation and contingency KVDA has a memorandum of understanding with partners organizations at the local community and will submit some fees to cater for the volunteers stay and this is done in consultation with the host community. The volunteer is entitled to accommodation, meals, access to water for domestic use and will be empowered by the hosts to make good use of locally available resources to facilitate the placement. Volunteers should arrive in Nairobi preferably at the end of every month in order to ensure that they participate in the orientation meeting schedule to run from 1st -3rd of every month.

Accommodation: The volunteer will live in a host family within the community and this will thus provide you with the opportunity to learn more from the local people and also share in their daily way of life.
Food: the basic meals will be provided in the host family from what is locally available in the local community. Volunteers are therefore advised to be flexible and open minded to be able to integrate freely and easily in the local way of life since there will be no special diets in the host family.

2:01 Paranga Primary School

Project Overview:
Paranga Primary School was established as a result of community and volunteer’s initiative. The initiation of Paranga Primary School came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community. Their struggles can be defined as follows: Human/Wildlife conflict; Alcoholism, drug and substance abuse; adverse climatic condition {unreliable and unevenly distributed rainfall}; early pregnancy for teenage girls. The source of income for the community is charcoal burning which is detrimental to the environment as regards to sustainable development. The school has over five hundred students who undergo basic primary school education. The school is also involved in nurturing the young kids’ skills, guiding and counseling and thus career development.
Target Group:
The target group consists of school children from the local community and community members. Location: The project is located in Paranga Village of Taita Taveta County of the coastal region of Kenya approximately seven hours drive from Nairobi city.

Nature of Work:
The work includes involvement in the promotion of the education growth of the children both through classroom work and also practical work in science based and Mathematics subjects as well as sporting and club activities in the school, you will also be involved in involving the children in innovation and creativity activities that will also promote the education growth of the children. You will also be very instrumental in the creation of an environmental club in the school that will eventually take part in the conservation activities in the local community. Volunteers will also involve the students in the process of career development which will eventually assist them during the process of choosing what they want to pursue in life. This will be instrumental since the children will be guided in nurturing their talents in and out of school. Moreover volunteers placed in this project will engage the community members in a study topic: focus on human/wildlife conflict which has been a major factor hindering the development growth of the community.

2:02 Shartuka Primary School
Project Overview:
Shartuka Primary school was started in 1957 to promote the educational standards of the Maasai children from the local community. The school offers primary education in the Kenyan educational curriculum 8-4-4, which is the first level, where children undergoes an eight year training system in various subject. This stage is basically a point at which a foundation in the life of the child is laid from which they can now be able to build on in achieving their talents and goals in life. It was started by Missionaries of A. I. C. Church to help the community on the literacy level and currently it has 400 students and 40 from the Early Childhood section and at the primary level there are about 420 pupils. The school has contributed enormously in assisting the local children to pursue various professional fields in life and promotion of literacy levels in the community. Teachers are 14 in number Male teachers are 7 while female teachers are 7.
Challenges faced by the school:  The Maasai community is one of the few communities in Kenya that are still entrenched and guard their cultural practices. Some of the practices have had a negative impact on the educational development of the local people especially the girl child. Some of these practices include; Cultural e.g. Female genital mutilation of the girls, thereafter the girls are married immediately.
Target Group:
The target group consists of children form the local community who attend school and also the community members.
Location: The project is located in Shartuka Village in Kilgoris of Narok County which is about six hours drive from Nairobi city.

Moreover, this project will have an aspect of the study part where the volunteers will be involved in knowing more about the cultural heritage of the Maasai people and thus involving the community in an open minded discussion that will be aimed at promotion of the education standards in the community for both the girl and the boy child and also gender sensitization activities.

2:03 Kenya Institute of Organic Farming (KIOF)

Project Overview Kenya Institute of Organic Farming (KIOF) is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) operating throughout Kenya and the Eastern Africa region. It is not operated for profit nor other commercial purposes but for the benefit of the public at large, promoting rural development and education in the areas of organic agriculture and related marketing services. KIOF was a pioneer in Kenya’s organic agriculture movement. It is based in Juja town near Thika, 30 Km Northern of Nairobi. It was established in 1986 to promote organic agriculture among small-holder farmers though training and awareness creation with focus on youth, women and self-help framing groups. KIOF maintains demonstration centers in five locations of Eastern, Central and Rift Valley provinces. KIOF works with NGO’s, government, departments and research organizations in this initiative. The instate has published several books on smallholder organic farming practice .KIOF trains stallholder farmers in organic farming methods using locally available resources, including local indigenous knowledge, for maximum production to feed a growing population. This can be realized through a holistic approach to the farming system and including such factors as choice of crops, composting techniques, planting systems, crop storage, animal husbandry, crop protection and soil erosion. Their struggles can be defined as follows; Alcoholism, drug and substance abuse; Adverse climatic condition {unreliable and unevenly distributed rainfall}; Early pregnancy for teenage girls; HIV/AIDS epidemic Target Group: The target group consists of the local farmers from the local community and students who are trained in the institution. Location: The project is located in Juja in Kiambu County of the Central parts of Kenya which is about two hours drive from Nairobi city. Nature of Work: The work includes involvement in the promotion of organic farming in the local community and in areas surrounding the community, volunteers will also involve the students in their activities such as training them on sustainable agricultural activities apart from helping them out in the process of educational development, you will also involve the local youth in activities and topical discussions that will assist them in becoming responsible citizens who are able to participate positively in the process of community development. You will also be involved in the process of career development among the children from the local community to enable them be able to develop their talents and skills. 2:04 Community Outreach Center

Project Overview Community Outreach Center was established to promote the use of information technique in the lives of the local people so as to increase their productivity and involvement in the development of the community structures. The center also has the mandate of engaging the community members especially the youth in exchange of ideas and information with their counter parts especially from other area that will involve the participate fully in activities that are aimed at increasing their productivity in the community as well as enabling them become self reliant. The center aims at introducing ICT studies in the local schools to prepare the children for what they will need in their life once they are out of school. This is not only meant for improving their academic capabilities but also giving them a practical way of doing things. The project is located in an area where ICT has not been fully introduced in the community and is not widely use hence the presence of such a project is help full to the development of this sector among the people of this community. Target Group: The target group consists of the local people especially the youth and the school going children from the area. Location: The project is located in Luanda Township in the vast Vihiga County that is in the Western parts of Kenya which is about eight hours drive from Nairobi city. Nature of Work: The work includes teaching computer technology skills both software and hardware applications, involvement in sporting activities in the community aimed at creation of awareness as well as offering and opportunity to meet the youth in get involved in topical discussions, offering agricultural lessons and getting involved in the agricultural system of the local community. Volunteers will also be involved in capacity building activities especially in the local schools which are aimed at introducing the local children to computer applications. For the sustainability of the project activities volunteers will also take part in the process of resource mobilization. 2:05 Kilingili Secondary School
Project Overview Kilingili secondary school was established by the community members to offer their children who had graduated from primary school an opportunity to pursue their secondary education dreams. The school has three streams from form one to form four and each class has an average of forty students. Hence the school has a approximately 450 students. Since the initiation of the school many community members especially the youths have been able to achieve and develop their talents that have made them become better members of the society who have and are contributing positively to the development process of the local community structures of sustainability. The school also provides an opportunity where the youth are empowered on issues dealing with drug abuse and their life development. Apart from class work activities the students have an opportunity to develop their skills and interest in sporting activities as well as clubs that are aimed at enhancing the general development of the local community. Most members of the community are small scale farmers who only produce foodstuffs that are consumed within the family household. Target Group: The target group consists of the local farmers from the local community and students who are trained in the institution. Location: The project is located in Kilingili Village in Emuhaya of the vast Vihiga County in the Western parts of Kenya which is about eight hours drive from Nairobi city. Nature of Work: The work includes involvement in the promotion of the educational development of the students in the school such as teaching science based subjects, mathematics and language lessons, you will also be involve the process of career development in the lives of the students since it is at this level of the Kenyan education system where the student start choosing their preferred fields of specialization hence they need guidance and counseling to prevent them from missed opportunities. Capacity building will also be one of the responsibilities with community members as well as resource mobilization in support of the project development activities. Apart from the classroom activities volunteers will be also be involved in the management of club activities in the school and involve the students in sporting activities to enhance their development and the utilization of their talents and skills. Project Overview Nyabosonga Bena Academy Primary School was established as a result of community’s initiative to promote the literacy levels in the community. The initiation of Nyabosonga Bena Academy came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community. Their struggles can be defined as follows: Alcoholism, drug and substance abuse; cultural practices that sometimes have had negative impact on the growth of the community; early pregnancy for teenage girls due to cultural practices. This school is a turning point where parents are advised to give their children an opportunity to pursue their academic dream that is aimed at enabling them to fully participate in the productive development of the community structures and thus making life better for the generations to come. Most members of the community are small scale farmers most of home only produce food stuffs that are not even enough to support the well being of their families. Target Group: The target group consists of school children from the local community and community members. Location: The project is located in Kuria East in the Lake Victoria region of Kenya approximately seven hours drive from Nairobi city. Nature of Work: The work includes involvement in the promotion of the education growth of the children both through classroom work and also practical work in science and Mathematics subjects as well as sporting and club activities in the school, you will also be involved in involving the children in innovation and creativity activities that will also promoter the education growth of the children. You will also be very instrumental in the creation of an environmental club in the school that will eventually take part in the conservation activities in the local community. Volunteers will also involve the students in the process of career development which will eventually assist them during the process of choosing what they want to pursue in life. Project Overview Gideon Mosi Primary School & Community Empowerment was established as a result of community’s initiative to enhance the educational development of the children from the local community, in order to reduce the illiteracy levels in the community. The school was also initiated to offer a forum where the community members could come and enhance the process of implementation of community development activities and thus champion on a common course that is to improve the living standards of the local community members. The initiation of Gideon Mosi Primary School & Community Empowerment came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community. Their struggles can be defined as follows: Human/Wildlife conflict; Alcoholism, drug and substance abuse; adverse climatic condition {unreliable and unevenly distributed rainfall}; early pregnancy for teenage girls. The source of income for the community is charcoal burning which is detrimental to the environment as regards to sustainable development. Project Overview Mbulia Dispensary is a community health institution initiated by the local community members and sponsored by the local constituency development fund through the help of the local Member of Parliament. The local community used to walk several kilometers before they could access a health facility as a result most of them lost their lives due to this. The area is one of the hard ship areas in Kenya and the dispensary is understaffed hence a load to the doctor in charge who has the responsibility to ensure that all community members are served with quality services. Since the establishment of the institution it has enabled many of the community members to be involved in productive activities thus ensuring that their children are able to attend school due to good health. The health institution also offers an opportunity where the community members come together to enhance the process of implementation of community development activities and thus champion on a common course that is to improve the living standards of the local community members. The initiation of Mbulia Dispensary came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community. Their struggles can be defined as follows: Human/Wildlife conflict; Alcoholism, drug and substance abuse; adverse climatic condition {unreliable and unevenly distributed rainfall}; early pregnancy for teenage girls. The main source of income for the community is charcoal burning which is detrimental to the environment as regards to sustainable development. The community also has one rainy session where they are able to carry out some farming activities. Due to the effects of human activities on the environment the agricultural yield is not able to produce enough food to sustain the community through out the year. Target Group: The target group consists of school children from the local community and community members. Location: The project is located in Taita Taveta County of the Coastal region of Kenya approximately seven hours drive from Nairobi city. Nature of Work: volunteers placed in this project will major be involved with medical work in the dispensary such as registration of patients, giving out patients following the doctors’ description, observation and noting the progress of every patient. The volunteers will also be involved in awareness creation in the community to promote the sustainability of the livelihood among community members both in community forums and also in local schools. Moreover volunteers placed in this project will engage the community members in a study topic: focus on human/wildlife conflict which has been a major factor hindering the development growth of the community. 2:09 Esiarambatsi Health Center
Project Overview Esiarambatsi Health Center is a community health institution initiated by the local community members to promote their health well being. The local community used to walk several kilometers before they could access a health facility as a result most of them lost their lives due to this. The area is one of the hard ship areas in Kenya and the dispensary is understaffed hence a load to the doctor in charge who has the responsibility to ensure that all community members are served with quality services. Since the establishment of the institution it has enabled many of the community members to be involved in productive activities thus ensuring that their children are able to attend school due to good health. The health institution also offers an opportunity where the community members come together to enhance the process of implementation of community development activities and thus champion on a common course that is to improve the living standards of the local community members. The initiation of Esiarambatsi Health Center came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community. Their struggles can be defined as follows: Alcoholism, drug and substance abuse; unreliable and unevenly distributed rainfall; early pregnancy for teenage girls. The majority of community members are subsistence farmers whose harvest in not even enough to cater for the well being of their families for a session. Due to poor farming techniques there has been a series of environmental degradation, with which has come up several diseases that have affected the children such as malnutrition. Target Group: The target group consists of local community members. Location: The project is located in Emuhaya of the Western region of Kenya approximately seven hours drive from Nairobi city. Project Overview The Polytechnic started as a community based initiative in support of the need to realize self-development. It was difficult to consolidate the community resolve until in 2008 when the process of obtaining legal status ensued and this was followed by frantic efforts by development partners to support the community to realize its objectives. In 2009, an international voluntary service program was organized by KVDA and this jump-started the construction of the first administration block that is yet to be completed as the inaugural step to develop the infrastructure at the Polytechnic. Current student enrolment is approaching 100 and this comprises of boys and girls, the majority of whom have completed their Primary and secondary school education and yearn for career development. Teaching fraternity is made up of 7 teachers and the Polytechnic sits on a one-acre land owned by the Polytechnic Target Group: The target group consists of the youth from the community and other neighboring villages and community members. Project Overview Mkombozi Chanzu Ingidi Friends Secondary School is a school initiated by the Friends Church to promote the literacy levels in the local community and thus promote and improve the competitive nature of the youth especially from the local community with other youths across the country. The school offers the secondary education following the Kenyan education system 0of 8-4-4. This stage is where the students are prepared for the choice of their career lines and it is a point where the students after the four years in school graduate institutions of higher learning or tertiary institutions where they are able to pursue and develop their skills and talents. The school was established in February 2009 to offer educational support community children who had just finished primary school education. At the moment the school has 44 students of which 25 are girls and 19 are boys. It stands on a 21/2 acreage of land and in order to pave way for its establishment 4800 tea bushes were removed for construction of more school building and indication of how the community members have valued the education of their children. The construction is on going which is aimed at providing a better learning atmosphere to the students. The school has four teachers at the moment. Target Group: The target group consists of school children from the local community and community members. Project Overview The Shimba Hills Forest Guides Association is a group comprising of 30 local youths who have come together to support eco-tourism in the Shimba hills national reserve. The group is involved in guiding tourists through the reserve in addition to other environmental conservation activities. Mission: to actively participate in conservation endeavors of the Shimba Hills and to sensitize the locals on the benefits of the reserve. Vision: To have a conservation conscious community Target Group: The target group consists of community youths, school children and community members. Location: The project is located in Kwale County of the South Coast region of Kenya approximately nine hours drive from Nairobi city. Nature of Work: volunteers placed in this project will major be involved with educational support and promotion activities both in local schools and in the local community to enhance and promote the conservation of the local environment and the ecosystem. Volunteers will also be involved in conservation activities such as tree planting and nurturing them to improve and increase the forest cover in the local community. The initiation of Nyamagagana Girls’ Secondary School came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community especially the education of the girl child who were being affected by some of the cultural practices. Their struggles can be defined as follows: Alcoholism, drug and substance abuse; cultural practices that sometimes have had negative impact on the growth of the community; early pregnancy for teenage girls and early marriages due to cultural practices. This school is a turning point where parents are advised to give their children especially the girls an opportunity to pursue their academic dream that is aimed at enabling them to fully participate in the productive development of the community structures and thus making life better for the generations to come. Most members of the community are small scale farmers most of home only produce food stuffs that are not even enough to support the well being of their families. Target Group: The target group consists of school children from the local community and community members. Location: The project is located in Kuria East in the Lake Victoria region of Kenya approximately seven hours drive from Nairobi city. The school was also initiated to offer a forum where the community members could meet to enhance the process of implementation of community development activities and thus champion on a common course that is to improve the living standards of the local community members. The initiation of Vigetse Primary School came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community. Their struggles can be defined as follows: Alcoholism, drug and substance abuse; unreliable rainfall due to the effects of human activities on the local forest cove; early pregnancy for teenage girls that over the years resulted in school drop outs. The school offers primary education in the Kenyan educational curriculum 8-4-4, which is the first level, where children undergoes an eight year training system in various subject. This stage is basically a point at which a foundation in the life of the child is laid from which they can now be able to build on in achieving their talents and goals in life Most community members are small scale farmers who are not even able to produce enough food to support their own families. The school has over five hundred students who undergo basic primary school education. The school is also involved in nurturing the young kids’ skills, guiding and counseling and thus career development. Target Group: The target group consists of school children and community members. Project Overview Epang’a Primary School was founded probably in 1928, by the community members who valued education after being challenged by the Missionaries who had settled at Kima Mission Station. It is a two-streamed mixed primary school. It is thus an old educational institution which without doubt, has for decades positively contributed to the general development of the people of this community and beyond. It is a bridge of hope many have crossed to make the entire society to be what it looks like today and to that effect, we find it quite abnormal to just watch it go down to ruins as History and the future generations may judge us harshly in the name of justice. The school buildings which sprung up rapidly in a feat to run away from temporary and semi-permanent structures in 1970’s were poorly planned and the workmanship was very much wanting. The ratio of the mixture of sand and cement was so poor that within 19 years, most of the buildings had become so risky for habitation. One of the blocks in March 2005 was heavily brought down by storms; thank God children were not in school then. The Ministry of Public Health moved swiftly and condemned all the 15 classrooms in March 2005. Project Overview N airobi Children’s Home is a Government Institution under the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Development. It is run by the Children’s Department. The Home was established in 1989 as a rescue centre and place of safety. The home has a capacity of 60 children but the population fluctuates from time to time. The influx is largely attributed to the breakdown of social norms, high poverty rate and HIV/ AIDS scourge. It is the only Government Institution taking care of children in need of care and protection in their formative age that is 0-6 years. It stands on an Eight Acres piece of land. Vision: A society where children become responsible citizens through fulfillment of their prescribed rights and welfare. Mission: To safeguard the rights and welfare of all children in Kenya through implementation of relevant policies, coordination, supervision and delivery of services. Programmes provided in the home include: Child guidance and counseling; Food, shelter and clothing; Comprehensive healthcare; Home tracing & family re-integration; Networking with Homes ran by NGO’s, Faith Based Homes, Community Based Homes to secure vacancies for placement; Education for the younger children through a nursery school Target Group: The target group consists of Orphaned and Vulnerable Children Location: The home is located along Lower Kabete-Kapenguria road Junction after Lower Kabete Campus, Nairobi West. Project Overview S hining Star Academy is a community based educational institution and an upcoming rural resource center that is aimed at enhancing the development of the community children educational development and also caters for the needs of the OVC who were being neglected in the community. The establishment of the center was a great mile stone since it now offered an opportunity to the community children especially the OVC to catered for and that they had some one who could champion their interests. Most of its activities are supported by both beneficiaries and community members. Most people in the local community are involve in the fish industry which at times has lured school going children to join. This in fact has had negative impacts on the community since it has resulted in early marriages, school drop outs, early and unplanned pregnancies not forgetting the spread of HIV/AIDS that has resulted in the increase of the number of OVC’s in the community. The need to empower the local community members led to the establishment of the center that has over the years assisted in educating the local community on various issues that affect the development process of the community. The project aims at ensuring the following activities in the local community: Early childhood development; Basic primary school education; Care and support orphans and vulnerable children and HIV/AIDS families; Enhancement of community empowerment trainings; ICT promotion and development in the local area Target Group: The target group consists of Orphaned and Vulnerable Children from the local community and community members. The local community used to walk several kilometers before they could access a health facility as a result most of them lost their lives due to this. The medical facility is understaffed with reference to the number of cases that the current staffs are made to deal with on a daily duration. Since the establishment of the institution it has enabled many of the community members to be involved in productive activities thus ensuring that their children are able to attend school due to good health. The health institution has also provided an avenue by which the local people meet together to enhance the process of implementation of community development activities and thus champion on a common course that is to improve the living standards of the local community members. The initiation of Kebaroti Health Center came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community, one of the major challenges that the hospital has been dealing with is the protection of the girl child from excessive bleeding as a result of female genital mutilation a cultural activity that is still widely practiced in the local community. Target Group: The target group consists of the local community members. Location: The project is located along Migori/Kehanja road near the Kenya/Tanzania boarder in the Lake Victoria region of Kenya approximately eight hours drive from Nairobi city. Project Overview R iamangutu Dispensary is a community health institution initiated by the local community to cater for the medical needs in the community. The local community used to walk several kilometers before they could access a health facility as a result most of them lost their lives due to this. The medical facility is understaffed with reference to the number of cases that the current staffs are made to deal with on a daily duration. Since the establishment of the institution it has enabled many of the community members to be involved in productive activities thus ensuring that their children are able to attend school due to good health. The health institution has also provided an opportunity where local people are able to address the development needs of the community that has also resulted in the implementation some of the community development activities and thus champion on a common course that is to improve the living standards of the local community members. Target Group: The target group consists of the local community members. Location: The project is located in Gucha of the Lake Victoria region of Kenya approximately eight hours drive from Nairobi city. It is a bridge of hope many have crossed to make the entire society to be what it looks like today. The school offers primary education in the Kenyan educational system 8-4-4 to the children from the local community. This aimed at enabling the children to grow up in to better citizens who are able to contribute to the general development of the local community. The school also aims at instilling discipline in the lives of this children and also trying to deal with the issue of drug use and abuse in the wider community not forgetting the effects alcoholism to the stability of families which eventually affect the general growth of the children. Project Overview T he handicapped children and youths in the community endure unbearable suffering because of the nature of the cultural practices and the attitude of community members. Mantal retardation is stigmatized and any child with such handicapped is either hidden at home or kept to look after their animals. Poroko special school is the only such school in the larger Transmara region. It is located in the Maasai country side. The school was established to address the plight of the handicapped among the Maasai community. The school thus will go along way in addressing this crucial problem. The school at the moment has a total of 72 students and seven teachers and seven support staff. 50 students are in residence in the school. The main objective of the school is to equip the mentally handicapped in the area of operation with life skills and get employed in other sectors with technical qualification to own their own small industries and hence create their own employment and be self reliant Target Group: The target group consists of the youths with special needs – mentally handicapped. Location: The project is located in Poroko in Transmara region of Kenya region which is approximately six hours drive from Nairobi city. Nature of Work: volunteers interested in working together with other staff members in nurturing the talents of these children will be involved in the following activities together with other staff members: support in educational development of the children especially in the following fields’ handcrafts, agriculture, home science and woodwork. The center aims at breaking the trend of vulnerability through provision of education to such children and more to these, the psychosocial support in order to raise the self esteem of such children. The center focus is on education, nutrition, talent development and self esteem of the same. St. Augustine Learning Center is therefore a driving force towards breaking the poverty cycle, a vehicle towards millennium development goals, HIV/AIDS mitigation and networking through provision of quality and holistic education to vulnerable children in a participatory approach. They lack basic necessities (food, clothing, shelter) and education which is a vital part of their growth in their families necessitated the establishment of this project to assist the children in the process of development. Project Overview E ssong’olo secondary school was established by the community members to offer their children who had graduated from primary school an opportunity to pursue their secondary education dreams. The school has three streams from form one to form four and each class has an average of forty students. Since the initiation of the school many community members especially the youths have been able to achieve and develop their talents that have made them become better members of the society who have and are contributing positively to the development process of the local community structures of sustainability. The school also provides an opportunity where the youth are empowered on issues dealing with drug abuse and their life development. Apart from class work activities the students have an opportunity to develop their skills and interest in sporting activities as well as clubs that are aimed at enhancing the general development of the local community. Most members of the community are small scale farmers who only produce foodstuffs that are consumed within the family household. Target Group: The target group consists of the local farmers from the local community and students who are trained in the institution. Location: The project is located in Essong’olo Village in Emuhaya of the vast Vihiga County in the Western parts of Kenya which is about eight hours drive from Nairobi city.
