MTV-Projekte in Mexiko: VIMEX
Here you find the MTV-program 2011. The program for 2012 will be announced at the beginning of 2012 (March by the latest).
COMMENT: You can take the Intensive Spanish Course that VIMEX offer to the volunteers in our camps before to go to your project. See below the project descriptions.However you need to have basic spanish knowledge when you apply.
VIMEX MTV 01 Yoga Tamazulapam, Oaxaca
Preferably 6 months /Open dates
PARTICIPATION FEE: 500 Euros
CAMP DETAILS: The project is developed in cooperation with VIMEX A.C. and Casa del Sol that is an independent organization formed by parents whose purpose is to provide children and adolescents
from Villa del Progreso, a space for initiation, growth, assessment and training in the areas of arts, sports, education and culture.
WORK: Doing different activities with two groups:
a) 10 - 20 children and teens,
b) 15 – 20 adults
Activities: Teaching the practice of the Yoga with certain exercises and regulation of breathing to the healthy body and the mind. The main objective is to offer new opportunities to improve and regulate their health with the application of the yoga techniques.
Everyday, from Monday to Friday, 4 hours per day in the afternoon or in the morning.
In the mornings the volunteers will help in activities like cleaning, repairing and the adaptation of the place. Bring your own material.
LOCATION: Tamazulapam Villa del Progreso, Teposcolula, Oaxaca. Tamazulapam is located at 8 hours from Mexico City by bus.
ACCOMODATION: The lodging will be at Casa del Sol.
FOOD: The meals will cook by the volunteers but It is possible that the women from the community will cook the meals.
REQUIREMENTS: Good disposal to the team work, dedication, responsibility and be available to work with children, adolescents and adults. Bring clothes according with the activities. Please bring your own insurance.
ARRIVAL: From Mexico City and from the VIMEX office the volunteer will go to the project.

• “El Cañón” an antique and mystical place with ancient paintings;
• “Tepoxcolula” with an ex-convent with tunnels and ancient paintings
• “Yanhuitlán “ it has an antique church with a convent.
• “Las Tinitas” with beautiful waterfalls and landscapes
• Oaxaca City, superb !!! Capital of the State.
• Doing activities with the community who is very friendly. You will be in touch with local people.
VIMEX MTV 02 Aerobics T amazulapam, Oaxaca
Preferably 6 months /Open dates
PARTICIPATION FEE: 500 Euros
CAMP DETAILS: The project is developed in cooperation with VIMEX A.C. and Casa del Sol that is an independent organization formed by parents whose purpose is to provide children and adolescents from Villa del Progreso, a space for initiation, growth, assessment and training in the areas of arts, sports, education and culture.
WORK: Doing different activities with two groups:
a) 10 - 20 children and teens,
b) 15 – 20 adults
Introducing complex and varied content with different sessions or classes of aerobics with the inclusion of musical rhythms to help variability and acceptance of the activity, making it even more fun and lively.

VIMEXMTV 03 Growth & Development Mexico City Kids/Art/Sport/Edu
Preferably 6 months /Open dates
PARTICIPATION FEE: 500 Euros
CAMP DETAILS: The project is developed in cooperation with VIMEX A.C. and Hogares Providencia, an independent organization that offers home and space for multidimensional development to children of the street in the capital of Mexico. It takes care of children of all ages; different age groups live in different homes of the Hogares Providencia. Children attend different schools, participate in therapies, yoga classes and excursions.
WORK: participation in activities with children of age up to 4 years old
Activities: playing with and leading multidimensional activities for small children (according to the educational program: arts, sport, music, language, etc.), support to the educators (meals time, children hygiene), being with the children.
Work from 9 am till 4:40 pm in the day centre for small children.
LOCATION: Mexico City
ACCOMODATION: The lodging will be at Hogares Providencia.
FOOD: The volunteers will eat with the children, meals prepared by Hogares Providencia staff.

VIMEXMTV 05 Support & Solidarity Mexico City Art/Sport/Cult/Lang

PARTICIPATION FEE: 500 Euros
CAMP DETAILS: The project has been created in cooperation with VIMEX A.C. and Ayuda y Solidaridad con las Niñas de la calle (Support and Solidarity with the Street Girls), an independent organization that offers home and space for multidimensional development to girls in the situation
of the street and at the risk of entering in this situation. It takes care of girls of all ages; different age groups live in 3 floors of the home. The girls, once in the appropriate age, attend primary and secondary schools, participate in therapies, sport classes and excursions.
WORK: participation in activities with adolescent girls
Activities: English classes, support in the homework, support to the educators and during the workshops, supervision during the sport activities, proposing and organizing activities (artistic, sport, etc.), participation in events, presentation of your culture (costumes, traditional food, etc.). There´s a possibility to support the project Cooker and learn how to prepare the Mexican food.
Work from 11 am till 18:00 pm in the home.
LOCATION: Mexico City
ACCOMODATION: The lodging will be at the project.
FOOD: The volunteer will eat with the girls, meals prepared by Ayuda y Solidaridad staff.

VIMEXMTV 06 Solidarity and Integration Guanajuato Child/Art/Sport/Envi

PARTICIPATION FEE: 500 Euros
CAMP DETAILS: The project is developed in cooperation with VIMEX A.C. and Children Home Irapuato (Albergue Infantil), an organization that creates living space for boys with family problems. It guaranties them opportunity to multidimensional development (school, culture, sport practice, etc.), psychological therapy and being there always to hear and support them.
WORK: Doing different activities with the boys (in different ages), support to the educators
Activities: supporting the boys in doing their homework, English and computer class, sport (basketball, volleyball, football, etc.)/ artistic activities, workshops on healthy life and emotions. A possibility to create a small garden with fruits, vegetables and herbs.
Bring your own material and ideas.
LOCATION: Irapuato, Guanajuato state. Irapuato is situated 3 hours from Mexico City by bus.
ACCOMODATION: The lodging will be at Albergue Infantill.
FOOD: The volunteer will eat with the boys; the meals are prepared by a cooker. The volunteer will be able to participate in the preparation.
REQUIREMENTS: Patience, dedication, responsibility and capacity to work with children and adolescents. Bring clothes for the summer and autumn. Please bring your own insurance.
ARRIVAL: From Mexico City (VIMEX office) the volunteer will go to the project.

CAMP DETAILS: The project is developed in cooperation with VIMEX A.C. and Vanguardia por la Justicia y la Felicidad. Vanguardia is a social organization which works with volunteers to provide
better living conditions by accomplishing for example the following activities: legal advice, family therapy, environmental care activities, etc.
They work in different public areas around the city organizing permanent community events, so called “social working days” to make the community a better, safer and happier place to live. In addition to that their objectives are to help children develop values and skills such as respect, honesty, commitment, creativity and to promote childrens' self-esteem. To comply with these objectives, Vanguardia organizes different work shops.
They also dedicate themselves to support help centers in different natural disasters and to promote a disaster precaution culture.
WORK description:
Activities: organizing multidimensional activities with little children, leading work shops (art, singing, sports etc.), teaching English, activities with elderly people.
Working time up to 8 hours a day, five days a week with two additional days off a months (you can accumulate the days to utilize them fully at the end of the voluntary service)
The volunteer will get the public holidays or some other days off in exchange.
LOCATION: Mexico City
ACCOMODATION: The lodging is at Vanguardia with all services (kitchen, bathroom). A Simple room with bed, table, chair and furniture where you can put your belongings. There is a living room where you can eat, read, prepare activities etc.

CAMP DETAILS: Fundacam IAP, is an organization whose objectives are to enable children, youth and adults in computer science, sports and low-cost eco-techniques and develop projects that benefit the community of Valle de Bravo, Mexico State. It has several projects such as:
*Youth sport clinics whose main goal is to keep children and young people focused on the sport and not drug or violence.
*Conference Center to give lectures on self-esteem, addiction prevention and cooking workshops and health care.
*Hydroponic lettuce crops with implementation and training for surrounding communities, youth and adults.
Objective of this project is : training in the subject people of the community
Description: Develop and lead the project to install, about the high ceilings, pipes to collect rainwater and to the tank.
WORK: The activities will be: getting donations of materials and train community people in the area
LOCATION: Otumba neighborhood in Valle de Bravo, Mexico State.
ACCOMODATION: This will be in the organization, in a big room with beds and showers. Please bring your sleeping bag and personal items.

CAMP DETAILS: Fundacam IAP, is an organization whose objectives are to enable children, youth and adults in computer science, sports and low-cost eco-techniques and develop projects that benefit the
community of Valle de Bravo, Mexico State. It has several projects such as:
*Youth sport clinics whose main goal is to keep children and young people focused on the sport and not drug or violence.
*Conference Center to give lectures on self-esteem, addiction prevention and cooking workshops and health care.
*Hydroponic lettuce crops with implementation and training for surrounding communities, youth and adults.
It requires a plan to promote and disseminate the schedule of courses in the area.
It requires the implementation of a simplified hydroponics greenhouse and care of the process of planting and cultivation of lettuce in a first phase.

b) To contact area schools inviting them to participate in conferences
c) To train participants on the methodology of simplified hydroponics cultivation.

WORK: The activities will be: To design a marketing plan, promotional and distribution strategy as well as contacting schools in the area inviting them to participate in the conferences .

CAMP DETAILS: Hogar infantil Maria de Jesús Romero is an institution that supports children in a vulnerable state whose goal is to provide protection for 18 girls and adolescents with a family model and efficient professional with training in values, a life project consolidated and tools that enable them to achieve independence and self-sufficiency.
Its mission is to provide assistance, education and support to children and adolescents from 3 to 15 years in a state of vulnerability, girls that were raped, preparing them for life and are able to integrate into society with human values.
WORK: The activities will be:
a) SCHOOL SUPPORT AND CRAFTS
Support homework, reading, math and other subjects in school because they are children and adolescents who have not attended school regularly and do not have study habits or started school late. Different kind of crafts according with the abilities of the volunteers.
b) WORKSHOPS AND TALKS
Talks and workshops for reflection, confidence and self esteem, Conflict resolution,
Human rights of women, Emotional health, Reproductive rights, Equal human relations, Communication, Respect, Ethical and human values, etc.
Different kind of sports.
