This organisation came into being after doing a series of case studies on how the elderly persons, their dependant children and other vulnerable children within their care live their day-to- day livelihoods in our communities.
We found out that as second generation parents, most elderly persons find it very difficult to provide for themselves, their dependant grand children and any other vulnerable children within their care the basic necessities in life like food, education, shelter, clothing, water, medical care, entertainment etc. This child dependency has been majory caused by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
With this background JFEC took up the initiative to work and give a supporting hand to the elderly persons and their dependant children to enable them live meaningful and dignified lives within their communities. Joy For Elderly Care Uganda envisions an elderly person, who is self supportive with organs to run to in times of dire need.
The elderly persons engage in small but productive businesses within their homes, markets etc, craft making, small gardening to cater for their financial needs and to look after their grand children and any other vulnerable children within their care.
