How it was

summary

I've participated in IJGD workcamp in Flensburg this summer. I should admit that it's been my first experience in a project like this. As my job doesn't allow me to have long term vacations, I was looking for a two weeks workcamp with local Russian volunteer organisation. Fortunately, I found this one in Flensburg. The description said it gave an opportunity to practice in making television show on local TV channel. I've never done anything like this before. But I work in media, so this kind of workcamp seemed really interesting for me. Surprisingly, the final result of our workcamp was going to be a life broadcast of our own TV show, and I could never imagine that literally everything was supposed to be done by ourselves. We learned how to work with professional video camera, practiced editing using different software. We split into teams and filmed 6 short videos each that were shown during our live broadcast where we had to do any kind of job: moderating, camera, video editing, program directing, music directing, decorating - everything! The day of live broadcast was a bit stressful, but we made it. Such an exciting experience, just within two weeks!

group life

What about the team and living together during workcamp? It was great! Every member of the team, including the camp leaders, was an open, fiendly and kind person. We've become good friends during the workcamp. We went to work together, spent free time, cooked our national dishes - we were doing everything together. It was one of the most positive expriences I've ever had. I'd definetly like to repeat this again. Probably during my next workcamp.
