From two to six months to a full year – with the ijgd, you can volunteer in more than 50 countries around the world. All of our programmes give you the opportunity to volunteer in social, cultural or ecological projects. Each programme has its own unique conditions and country focus. We always work together with partner organisations who are there to assist you on-site.

International Youth Volunteer Service (IJFD)

From volunteering in a German school in Albania to assisting in an old-age home in Japan, or offering support to a residential and work community for people with disabilities in Canada… the IJFD offers so many possibilities for you to gain valuable intercultural, socio-political and personal experience for an entire year.

weltwärts

Would you love to learn more about the relationship between policy and development? The weltwärts programme features placements in countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Intercultural exchange and mutual learning are at the heart of this volunteer service programme.

European Voluntary Services (EVS)

With the EVS, you will spend a year working on social, cultural or ecological projects across Europe. Meet other young people from different European countries, improve your language skills and learn so much about yourself – and Europe.

Medium-term Volunteering (MTV)

Is a whole year abroad a little too long for you? Our MTV programme gives you the chance to join a charitable project for two to six months. When you start is up to you.

The ijgd have successfully undergone an external audit by Quifd - Agency for Quality in Voluntary Services in the implementation of the quality requirements for voluntary services abroad.
